I recently acquired a Dan Wesson 1911. Need help with ID on the Model.

Commander Size, serrated front & rear of slide, High Rib, Millet Revolver style rear sight.

No markings on slide (might be coated), Circle DW on barrel.

** 2 digit SN# with GN prefix.

Any idea what it is? My guess is it's a PM, but not sure on age.

Any help or info or guidance is appreciated.

Umm...no??

Care to show the OTHER side of the gun? The side with the REAL info?

Is that a removable front sight. Some early 1911s had revolver type front sights and Millett rear. I have one. I suspect it is from 2001 or so without further info. The early ones may have had a Jarvis barrel too.

Welcome to the forum.

What you have is an early model Guardian Deuce not very common.

For more info go to the 1911forum.com there is a Dan Wesson section which should help.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I will go to the intro section. Also, the other side has no markings. I will post some better pictures soon. Thanks again.

Here are some more pics. There are no markings on the slide. Looks to have been re coated?

Is the slide Stainless under the coating? Might bead blast it off or re coat the slide.

The removable front sight seems to have been replaced. Original grips were rubber. Rear sight has issues and may need to be replaced as well. Any sources on the Front and Rear sights?

Frame says Dan Wesson Firearms Norwich NY. Barrel says Match under the Circle & DW

SN is GN000XX - Date range?

Looks like a Guardian Deuce, fairly uncommon.   Probably dates to early 2001.  The slide is removed like most 1911's, by removing the spring plunger and removing the slide release lever.  Nice find!  You could contact Dan Wesson and inquire about sights.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Any Dan Wesson revolver sight may work. That looks like a partridge front and a large frame revolver Millett rear sight. They show up on eBay. I bought one the other day.  However sending to DW is a good idea.
