Hopefully someone may know more about this then myself.
I just picked up bits and pieces of this story on the internet.
My new CBOB has a test fire date of 1/21/10
And a serial Number: C2xxCZ
(It obviously does not follow the serial number pattern of prior years where the first number was the year of production.)
I purchased it in California on 9/6/10
My dealer had 2 in stock – the one I did not purchase had a serial
number of C173CZ with the same test fire date as mine 1/21//10.
I'm guessing that this unique serial number sequence was done for the final run of 200 of the 2010 models for shipment to California only (which rumor has it also incorporated a forged frame?) , ….or so I am lead to believe. As the regular CBOBs were discontinued in 2010.
Can anyone verify that?
I will not have this gun in my possesion for another week as per the waiting period in Calif.
I did not take a close look at the frame so I can not say for sure that it is a forged frame but I have see that comment on other forums – is it forgered and what else was changed over the 2009 models?
I suspect it may have some VBOB changes in it….????….
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have no specific knowledge on this, but I would guess you are correct, these are CA only items. DW may not yet have had VBOB's certified for CA, and continued to make/sell CBOB's for CA.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

In my ongoing quest for information on the 2010 Dan Wesson CBOB I have gathered this information from various sources off the internet:
CBOBs where discontiued for 2010 however a limited number for 2010 were were built to ship to California. Several improvements were incorporated and the list price increased on the 2010 "California" CBOB.
Total production of the 2010 "California" CBOB: 200
Intended for sale in California but a hand full showed up at dealers in other states.
The Serial Number squence is 3 numbers - CXXXCZ with the XXX being the number of the gun produced in 2010. It will not have the old serial number sequence where the first number was the year it was produced (ie C9345CZ for 2009).
So the last one produced should have the serial number: C200CZ
If anyone has a serial number higher than that please reply to this post with your serial number. Coincidentally my newly purchased CBOB has the Serial Number of C200CZ so it may have been the last CBOB ever made..??
The following changes were introduced in the 2010 Calfiornia Model:
- Forged Frame
- Bar storck thumb saftey
- Tool steel fire controls
- 70 Series bar stock firing pin
This information has not been verified by Dan Wesson or CZ but has been compiled from several posts that included numbers and data from relable sources.
If you have different information, can add to or verify the information above please let us know.
As a side note this is what I understand the 2010 production numbers to be:
500 Valor Black
500 Valor Stainless
400 Vbob Black
500 Vbob Stainless
400 Guardian
400 CCO
500 Heritage
200 Cbob California only
100 PM7 California only

"Could this be the last CBOB ever made…..????????"
I hope not but maybe! Probably the last one made this year anyway. Looks good but will look better after you soot it up a little. Be sure and give us a range report.

I agree.
I hope it is not either.
However CZ has already announced that this model is discontinued and there would only be 200 made in 2010 (for California) as the final run. The 200 have already been made and shipped out at the beginning of the year.
It is too nice of a gun for it not to be contiuned but the replacement VBOB is very nice as well.
If I could of bought the VBOB in California I would have given it serious thought.. But probably would have still bought the 2010 CBOB given the changes made to the 2010 CBOB and my overall preference for the CBOB styling.
But I remeber many years ago when Ford planned to discontinue the Mustang and replace it with the Probe… Glad those plans fell through !!!

Congrats on your new CBOB Angelopc - Let us know how you like it
Looks like they decided to make more than the 200 scheduled.
That is good news for those who missed out on the initial run.
Great gun - loving mine.
Here is a pic of the Hard Chrome job I had done and the VZ G10/Carbon Fiber grips I put on.

OK I've got to ask, what do they have to do different to get the gun 'California certified'? It looks like a standard CBOB at least in the pics.

And it looks like its going to get a whole lot harder to get anything in the future:
