My first 1911 was a Kimber in .38 Super I purchased many years ago. I was able to shoot it very well, had no problems with any type of ammo I purchased at the time. My accuracy with this pistol was good, matter of fact I shot this better than my other handguns. But after purchasing several Dan Wesson 1911's, one in 9mm, the other in .45 ACP, I sold the Kimber. But I missed the .38 Super so I just purchased a Pointman-38 as I think the fit and finish of the Dan Wesson is superior to the Kimber. I am waiting for it to be shipped to my LGS.
I think you will be very pleased with this caliber, but be prepared to pay a bit more for ammo - and to get the most out of it, try to use match-quality ammo (true with all calibers I know). You will like the results. Enjoy!

The 38 super is an amazing round, only downside is finding ammo is mostly big box stores. Factory loads run about 1350fps to 1550fps depending on bullet weight and manufacture. I have 2 DW 38 super's .
