I love my Cbob but chasing brass has reminded me why I like my wheel guns so much. The gun is great, but does anyone know how to make the brass ejection more controlled. Right now my brass might be anywhere 15 feet front, right, or behind. Any ideas would be appreciated.

1) Is it consistent within each brand of ammunition, or does it vary even with the same loading?
2) Factory, your reloads, commercial reloads? Have you been shooting a wide variety of ammunition?
3) Extractor clean, sharply defined "claw" with no nicks?
4) Ejector in good condition, not loose, wobbling, bent, etc?
5) Different results with different magazines? I mark every magazine for every pistol, and as soon as I see any functioning problem, I check for problems that follow a particular magazine. This is a very underappreciated issue, and I think that a high quality 1911 like a CBOB is especially demading in magazine consistency.
6) How new is your CBOB? Sometimes things like this just "shoot in".
7) No knowing how experienced a shooter you are, is there a chance that a flinch, anticipating the shot, anticipating the last round (slide lock) is making a difference? Have you tried shooting slowly, consistently, and from a "benchrest" type position to see if the result is different?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The Cbob is relativity new, maybe 500 rounds. The mags are the DW mags which came with the gun. The ammo has been a mix of hand-loads and factory. The only pattern is light loads don't throw them as far of course. As far as my part I have been banging away for over 20 years with wheel guns but the 1911 thing is a recent addiction so I may have a small part in it. However the bullets hit the mark so I caint be flintching to bad. Anyway you gave me a lot of ideas to look at and I will pay more attention now. I will let you know if I turn up any obvious issues. Thanks a bunch.

Good luck! Even though the mags are both DW's that came with the pistol, one may be a problem that you might not notice unless you keep track of them. Your easiest solution my be to just keep shooting itself. I have a S&W M&P that gave itself a pretty nice "trigger job" after about 1000 rounds.

My range is outdoors in the leaves which means putting down several tarps or losing a lot of brass. I plan to do some shooting over the holidays and maybe I can find a pattern if it doesn't just shoot in. Hmmm, sounds like an excuse to shoot more. Who needs an excuse anyway. Happy Holidays all.
