I just "pulled the trigger" on the DW PM45 after a lot of research on 1911s. Any comments on this firearm? Any quirks or "gotta do" improvements I should know about?
Happy 4th of July, America!

DW 1911's can be kind of tightly fitted, so proper break-in and lubrication is pretty important. Here is some discussion we have had in the past:

There are a variety of links to different resources.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks, everyone. The PM7 had some tough competition, but really, no other gun came close. Just beautifully made, great feel in the hand, and the fit and finish are incredible. Remember that it had to be California-legal, which means most Dans were out of the question. But the PM7 had just about every single attribute I was looking for.
Great info on break-in. Yes, looking forward to that and I will be careful.
Happy Independence Day!!

I have owned my PM7 for a good while now.. but have only put 100 rounds through it. Awesome trigger ( in my book), though I am just too satisfied with revolvers to make the switch. My son (age 13) loves it though.

My guess is that DW made more PM 7's than anything else, for several years it was their mainstream model. They surely got a lot right with the Pointman series.

Good info, Steve CT. I was very impressed with the PM7 when I was comparing it to some excellent Kimbers. Great fit-and-finish, very high-quality parts, and that great "feel" that some guns impart. Pickup in 8 days.

Any "gotta do's" ? yea we need some on day nine, that is
a forum requirement.

Alas, here in the People's Republic of California it is about impossible to post pics on Day Nine because the Soviet Government here does not let us pick up our firearms until Day Ten.
It takes a troop ship 8 days to get from Vladivostok or Shanghai to the West Coast. Incredibly obvious isn't it; how the ten day waiting period correlates with the intentions of America's principal adversaries? By the time the ships head towards us, it is too late.
OK, OK, I'll knock it off. Pics and range report on this magnificent PM7 to follow shortly.
