I am new to this forum and have tried to do my due diligence so that I am not duplicating questions, but could not find anything so I apologize if this has been answered already. I have a Razor that I am interested in converting to .40 S&W to aid in cost reduction while training. I found a .40 cal barrel on the CZ Spare Parts site and was wondering if anyone knew if this could be a drop-in replacement or not.

Thanks!

First, welcome to the forum!

Drop by the New Member forum and introduce yourself.  Now to your question:

The Dan Wesson 1911's are very tight tolerance firearms, just swapping in a barrel may or may not work.  I would suggest sending the gun to Dan Wesson and have their smiths fit the new barrel to the slide and frame.  You will be certain that the work is done correctly.  If this is simply a cost saving move, I'd rethink it if it were me.  You will have the cost of the new barrel, shipping and the fitting costs to add together.  This will likely be several hundred dollars.  How much more expensive is the 10mm ammo vs .40 S&W?  If you reload, there is very little cost difference to load 10 vs 40.   I prefer the harder hitting 10mm round myself but everyone has a preference.

Let us know how you decide to go.

Scorpio's advice would be well heeded...

Just my 2 cents. I had a nice Colt Series 70 that I wanted to drop in a Clark comped match barrel I bought.  It had to be fitted by Clark. DW will be the same way.

Enjoy your DW

Thanks all... advice is duly noted. I was thinking if I could do a simple drop in replacement like I have done on my (yes I dare say it) Glocks in the past, it would be worth it. At this point in time I don't think I will be making the conversion.

Thanks again!
