The Dan Wesson website has a Guardian page under discontinued products stating the Guardian was discontinued in 2019 (SKUs 01985, 01987, 01988). Under their current products, they also have a Guardian page (URL reads "Guardian 2") stating the Guardian was "updated 2020" (SKUs 01828, 01829, 01838). Just from the pictures on the website, the front sight appears to be different (new one has writing on the side of front blade). At least one of the pictures (side shot, muzzle to right) is identical with even the serial number being the same.
Does anybody know what they updated? Did they actually produce/sell any of the updated versions yet?

I didn't notice the checkering on the backstrap/mainspring housing until you pointed it out. I suppose that explains why I never did well with those "spot the difference" picture games. Maybe once stocks of CZ-USA high volume models are back up, they will go back to producing the Dan Wesson models.
If not too sharp, I think I'd prefer the checkered backstrap/mainspring housing. As long as I can maintain a good grip, I wouldn't miss it if it were smooth.

A new Guardian (9mm) popped up today on GunBroker. This one as a serial number starting 21xxxxx, checkered mainspring, and the front sight with "AmeriGlo H3 19" on the side of the blade. The listing claims condition is "Factory New" and the SKU is listed as 01828, which is the "updated 2020" Guardian. So, at least they did make some of the new ones.

Yeah, considering the listed MSRP is $1586, whoever buys it is paying a premium to get it now. I guess retailers have the option to ask what the market will bear. Given there's basically no competition because everyone else is out of stock, they can ask whatever they want.
Honestly, if it were in 38 Super, I'd think seriously about it to make sure I had it by mid-November.

I was watching multiple sites and saw one pop up at Nagels gun shop in Tx. Definitely Gen 2. Called right away and got it for 1500 incl shipping. Wonderful gun. Really pleased with the fit and finish and accuracy. Did have a problem with it at 600 rounds in, see my post elsewhere, but DW customer service has been very responsive and I’m sure it will be back in action soon.
