I'm considering buying two frames: one dedicated to 45 ACP and 45 ACP based cartridges (38/45 Clerke and 41 Avenger) while the other will be for 9mm/38Super, etc. The frames, however, appear to be in 45 ACP with no ramp of any sort. I want my barrels to be "rampless," following the stock configuration put forth by Colt. Will there any problems with this set up? I'd like to know from more experienced folk. Thanks. DW41F.

I'll admit that I'm not nearly as familiar with 1911's as I am with wheel guns, so I haven't heard of a "rampless" 1911 configuration. I assumed that the ramp was a basic integral design in all 1911's to assist feeding the round, no matter which caliber is being used.
In other words, without a ramp, the round would likely fail to feed? Interesting. Well, you could contact the guys at Fusion arms, those boys definitely know their 1911 facts!

We sort of play around with knowing 1911's, as far as I'm concerned, this
is the 1911 authority. Big Forum with lots of info if you are willing to look around and search.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

You may have a problem with the breach-face on the slide & the ejector.
If I am reading correctly, you want a single slide, and 2 frames set-up for the different calibers.
I believe you would have to do it the other way, 2 different slides & a single frame.
With the smaller case heads on the 9mm & 38 Super, I believe the extractor is in a different place than on the 45 ACP models.

That's what I'm thinking. The breech faces and extractor locations are cut differently for different diameter cases.
