This is a WikiPedia link to DW 1911 model designations. I know we already have a lot of this info in the Archive, but there are some great links to articles about DW 1911's as well.

I was especially interested to discover that there was a limited run of PMDP's inspired by Grand Master shooter and gunsmith Dave Pruitt.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The big visual clue that you're looking at a PMDP is that the forward and rear cocking serrations are "chevron" style pointing front and rear on the slide. I've searched on a couple of 1911 sites, and the guys that have them really seem to like them.
Here's an old page from Lew Horton's with some DW 1911's
