I am picking up my cbob Thursday and thinking of putting a mirror polish on the frame and slide along with all the little parts.

a friend did it on his 70series colt and sold it for twice what he paid for it. It was very good looking gun.

I think the cbob is a much better looking gun and would look great with a mirror polish.

Has anyone done this to any of their Dans?

If you have please post some pics.

I have not but I have seen some examples that have been done that way.  If done properly they look great.  Only thing abou t a high polish finish is it will show every handling mark, brushed is much better at hiding those little scratches.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

I have a (unfortunately) long term project underway to high polish a 715, it's in pieces and some parts are polished up nicely. I decided to go the bench grinder/polishing wheel route, but I have seen photos of people that have done really nice work hand polishing with Mothers Mag Wheel polish and old T Shirts

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

...... that and one must be especially careful not to lose the edging on any engraving etc while polishing.

Rich-GOOD point. I went a little too far on the sideplate when I was starting out on this project with a Dremel tool, which equals EPIC FAIL!!!

Fortunately, I know a guy that has an extra 715 sideplate.

I bought an inexpensive Ryobi bench grinder, polishing wheels, and polishing compounds (Home Depot).

Someday I'll get this done

I have a collection of the Pointman series guns, and I'm thinking of using Mother's Mag polish and a soft cloth to freshen up the slide flats a little. I probably won't get to the 'mirror' stage, and I especially don't want to damage any of the logos and other symbology there, so I'll start very lightly and see how it goes. There are a few light scratches that I'm hoping to polish out while I'm at it. I'll post some before and after pics when I get done.
