I've found a DW 1911 Pointman for sale and I need a little help identifying it. The only DW that I've found with the chevron serrations is this one, but the gun for sale doesn't have all of the markings to match. The owner has had the pistol for seven years and bought it from a nurse who's husband had past. The gun does come with crimson trace grips which by themselves are $300. The owner is asking $700, and I'm trying to see if he'll ship it to me.

Thanks

This guy needs to turn his flash off.

After looking at a few more pictures online I have found that this is a Dave Pruitt gun. You can see DP in the serial number before the flash hides everything.

The asking price seems fair, any opinions? Anything to look out for, or specific questions to ask the seller. If I can convince him to ship this will be my first 1911.

I don't know much about 1911s, I only own 1 so I cant help much. There are some other guys here who know a lot more about the models and what to look for.

I will say that in my uneducated opinion a pre CZ Dan Wesson at that price is agtdw, especially after you sell off those ugly crimson trace grips. It is very hard to find any complaints ever about the quality of Dan Wesson 1911s.

It is best that you buy-now and figure it all out later!big-grin

I'd say that is a very good price. In case you have not seen this, here's what Dave has to say about this gun:

http://www.davidpruitt.com/pmdp-signature-1911/

Any DW 1911 for $700 is a pretty much no brainer, I'd find a way to pay all the shipping and transfer fees and bring that bad boy home.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I had seen that page. I also read that not all of the PMDP's had all the goodies that were described on that site. Only the ones that had Dave's shop logo on them had all the parts listed.

The seller has agreed to take the gun to his local shop, but is being a little slow/short with the details. I'll let you know how all this turns out.

Thanks

I should know by now not to ask whether or not I should make a Dan Wesson purchase from a bunch of DWoholics. I just sent off the money order for the PMDP this morning. I'll get some better pictures and a range report as soon as possible. I have serious dwas

Little Known Fact: I originally diagnosed the Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome many years ago on DWF, and my offer from those many years ago still stands

If you are out of control on your DW purchasing, I am very willing to take possession of all of them for a short period of time to help you get back under control.

Think of this as a DW Intervention, and while I offer this program freely, no one has yet to attempt to be healed.

HUH!

That's a very generous offer Steve. If I ever feel that I'm in over my head and I'm buying DW's instead of groceries you'll be the first one I call. ;)

Actually, in a true intervention, you are not capable of making that decision, others (like, uh ME) will make that decision and act in your best interest wow
