Well guys, I finally tried my Insight M6 and my Glock GTL22 light/laser combos on my Specialist with the rust spots and machine mark issues. (The rust is gone after warranty return. Machine marks remain.)
I was shocked to find out that both light/laser combos are super loose and rattle badly. I am at the end of my rope with this thing. Now I am looking for a smith who can remove the rail. I can't even sell this thing like this without disclosing the issue. My only option is to sell it to a dealer, or to press a return to Dan Wesson or to the dealer who sold to me. I have never had an experience like this with a new firearm, and this is the most expensive pistol I have ever purchased new.

I've been watching your frustration mount over the past few weeks... It is definitely a return, if you were to ask me. Don't write DWs off. Your issues are the exception. I'm sure even Bentley Motors has a problem now and again.

Here is Keith's reply to my message about the rail not fitting accessories snugly:
"Brian we have heard these reports before and have check our dimensions to the 1913 pica tinny dimensions and all checks out. We have done this numerous times just to be sure."
They have heard "reports" as they call them but "all checks out." Maybe I can lend them a dial caliper that works. It seems to me they could just try an Insight or some other accessory to see if it snug. These guys have their heads buried in the sand.
By the way, I sold the Specialist for a huge loss this weekend. I'm just happy to move on.

Brian, I'm sorry this has not worked out. Given multiple issues with your Specialist I'm not surprised that you have sold it off, unfortunately at $$$ a loss for you.
Dan Wesson is a very small part of the CZ monster. In the same way that there will not be any meaningful development of the DW revolver brand, I guess some part of their 1911 market drops off their radar screen as well
Your feedback on the problem resolution with the Specialist seems pretty straightforward, and I guess it's a part of "Buyer Beware", so
Buyer Beware
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Brian, not saying that you didnt try this but if you take a streamlight or surefire light off of a standard Glock rail ie-17,19,22,23 ect ect and put it directly on a 1913 pattern rail it will move or rattle front to back as the glock cross rails under the pistol are narrower front to back. Both my streamlight and my Surefire came with a package of rail adapters.
