I've admired a few of those Kimber's too, they really seem like a fine fitting piece of machinery. One of these days I'll own one, along with a DW (or more) & I'd like to get a Fusion 1911 (not sure which model) too. Bob Serva's current company.
But first, there's more wheel guns that are calling my name.

I shot about 30 rounds today and they all hit left of POA at about 30'. It may be me, I don't know, or the 3" barrel syndrome. The other thing is that when I got home I tried to field strip the gun but the slide stop will not push out. I followed the directions but no go. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and see what he suggests. Anybody have any ideas?
Here's a couple of pics at the range:

I also have a Kimber, a Custom Shop Stainless Raptor II. My wife and I both love this gun. Just for comparison, we took the S&W 645 with us to the range last week. There's a reason that it took me 20+ years to buy another auto-loader. What a piece of junk. I especially like the variable trigger pull. It will be going on GB as soon as I return home for any length of time.
I found my Kimber to be very difficult to take down the first couple of times also. In my case the problem was getting the little semi-circular cut out in the slide aligned correctly with the tip of the lever. Once I figured it out, everything went smoothly.
and good shooting .
