Hello all, A simple break in question for you 1911 experts!
I was wanting to know if when you clean your new gun for the first time, (before shooting) Do you do a complete dis-assembly, or just a field strip??
I am going to break this in as a Dan Wesson as they are the ones who made it!!
Thanks

Based on the 38 super I just bought -- Do a field strip and completely clean the slide rails on both frame and slide then re-lube with FP-10 or militec. Mine was pretty dirty out of the box.
Shoot 50 rounds, clean/lube again...
Shoot 50 rounds, clean/lube again...
Shoot 50 rounds, clean/lube again...
repeat....

First and foremost, follow the DW instructions to the letter
Second, run it wet
Third, clean it frequently and throughly
DW 1911's tend to be pretty tightly fitted and assembled. Properly"Shooting In" is the best way to continue building your Dan Wesson 1911.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
