Hey Folks, I am a new member to the forum and I just purchased my first 1911, a Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm. Another thing off my bucket list. The Valor in 45acp will be my next one. I feel I have made the right decision for my needs as a hunter and outdoorsman. I have not had time to shoot it yet but I have disassembled it and cleaned and lubed the gun using what my local gun shop recommended. Man this gun has a great feel to it and the trigger pull is perfect. I enjoy reading all the various comments. I purchased a Dan Wesson after reading lots of reviews about competitors products and having only 1500.00 for my new gun budget and comments how this pistol was compared to much higher priced 1911s.(Quality-Reliability) I am looking forward to shooting this pistol out in the country with no distractions but I need to purchase more magazines and ammo first. Anyone have any input on preferred mag brand, ammo brand, size for the break-in period? 180gr-200gr? Once I break it in I will try out Underwood, Cor Bon, Double tap and other brands to see what the gun prefers, Thanks

Welcome to the Forum terrygourley,
I use HSM (HMS?) inexpensive ammo for the break in of my 10 mm titan, 200 grain and ran it wet and slick; I am around 1000 round right now. I have no information on magazines, you may want to check out the 1911 forum, they have a lot of info on their DW sub boards.

You'll enjoy the 10mm. I'm pouring 240 gr WFN bullets for mine and driving them pretty hard. They're not at Double-Tap velocity and pressure but enough to easily put down LA hogs. I run check-mate magazines; no issues.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Just wanted to say thanks for the information concerning the correct ammunition to use for the break in period on my new pistol. (Still have not shot it, trigger finger starting to twitch )I plan on purchasing 300-400 rounds HSN 200GR and disassemble it again removing the lube the local gun shop told me to use and using what Keith recommended (Shooters Choice FP-10) I appreciate the comments , advice on what products have the best track record. After I break this gun in I am going hog hunting to celebrate with some 240gr WFN and put hickory in the smoker. Also I plan on becoming a supporter. This forum is extremely educational. Thanks again and good shooting

I own a Silverback in 10mm, absolutely my favorite gun. I've only run Underwood 155 gr hollow points and FMJs, I don't plan on running any of the watered down 10mm, you might as well shoot .40. So far no failures to feed. I also own a full size Valor in .45, again no failures of any kind. Both of these guns are well worth what i paid. Only problem with them is now I want more and dont like plastic guns.
