Went to a gun show yesterday looking for something else but found this instead and decided it was time to get my first 1911 and it had to be a DW. Its a Razorback in 10mm, its a CZ era gun. The barrel is laser etched with the '10MM' DW and 'Match'. The etching is fairly faint so I assume thats from use, although the gun is in very nice shape and is extremely tight and clean. It came in plastic case with the original factory sticker and manual and what I take to be the factory grips and two magazines.
Tell me more about this gun as I'm new the the 1911 club.
I really wanted a CCO or ECO in 45 ACP but this gun jumped out at me and there were none of the other ones there so I grabbed it.
Now the obligitory . Let me know what you think.

Congrats, a nice looking gun. I don't know much about 10mm in the 1911 except that it hits pretty hard! Even a powerful cartridge like 10mm should handle well in a full size 1911
They have a big DW subforum, and you will see Dave Severns there a lot, pretty much the Godfather of the DW 1911 fraternity
You will see reference to COTEP (Congregation Of The Enlightened Pistolero) which is a phrase used to identify DW 1911 owners/shooters.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That's a good looking find, I don't blame you one bit for jumping on it.I predict you are gonna love shooting that gun. Every time I shoot my 1911, I can't help but think about how I dumb I was for having gone so long before buying one & discovering how great these guns are!
I hope you & the family stay safe through the "big blow" this week.

Can I use 40 cal dies to reload the 10mm brass? From the cost of ammo I think reloading is a must.
Along that same line, I've heard that the Dan Wesson 10mm should not be running super hot loads due to the feed ramp barrel. I assume it leaves part of the case unsupported. Is this a fact or a rumor? I don't want to damage the gun or myself. Now that said, I don't load any of my calibers to the max simply so as not to wear out the gun any faster than needed.

• All the dies I know of reload both 10mm and 40S&W. The biggest difference I believe is that the 10mm uses large primers. The only difference is in case length. In that regard they are much like 38 Spcl/357 Mag cases & dies.
• Apparently all newer 10mm factory ammo is de-rated to the "FBI load" which the FBI tested but never accepted. If you want to get back up to the true 10mm ballistics, then you must reload. All 10mm are fairly rare. There's a lot more talk than actual guns, so the rumor mill is in high gear.
• You may have that backwards. The Colt is the one with partially unsupported chamber, and the DW has its chamber not cut away.

Took the gun to the range last week and it is FUN to shoot. Recoil wasn't bad at all, probablly the "FBI" loads. I'm going to load some soon, that is if I have any brass to load, this gun has a fantastic ejector, it throws the spent cases at least twelve feet to the right. I was shooting along the berm at the outdoor range and alot of my cases went into the 'rough'. I ended up loosing about 10 out of 50. I HATE loosing my brass, especially 10mm.
Recoil was not that bad, but then again I enjoy shooting my Supermags so almost anything has less recoil compared to the big boys.

That ejector sounds like my 9x23Win... off in the tulies goes the brass ! Places like THR.org have used 10mm brass about once every 2 weeks in the trading section. Or you can buy new from StarLine.
Thanks for the price. Based on what I've seen, that's a very nice price. Congrats again.
