I took my new to me PM7-10 with me Friday to shoot it for the first time. I've had a Colt Delta Gold Cup in 10mm since they came out, so I knew what to expect. Brought my reloads for the Gold Cup to try, haven't had time to load any just for this one yet. I laid my UVL tarp out where I thought the empties would go, and after sighting on the berm, pulled the trigger and watched where the empty case went. There were some broken clay target parts on the 25 yard berm, so I aimed at one of those...the shot took it out. Tried a few more, seems the gun is already sighted in for me.
Then I started shooting at the handgun silhouette targets (it was silhouette practice day). Had to come up 10 clicks, but managed a few pigs at 50 yards. Off to the 100 meter berm, and after some trial and error, got it sighted in there. The windage was off, and it shows at the longer ranges.
Couldn't resist shooting at the 200 meter rams. After walking them in, I even managed to hit a couple...THAT was fun!
I LIKE this gun a lot! It had several failures to feed which I attribute to the mild loads I used from the Gold Cup not cycling the action properly. With a few heavier loads I also brought out, it did better. This one has a noticeably stiffer spring than the Gold Cup does, so I'll need to load more near the top end for it to work right. I'll post a few more pics when I get a chance.

Without digging it out of the safe, I can't say for sure, but I believe the Gold Cup has one spring.
The tarp works great, once you figure out where to place it. Didn't lose a single piece of brass, and I HATE losing 10mm brass. 9's I don't care about, since I usually come home with more than I shot.

Dean, that is really a beautiful gun. Maybe (well, probably) I'm prejudiced, but Stainless DW 1911's with wood grips are just "drop dead gorgeous".
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks Steve! I also agree with that stainless/wood look. The contrasting blue sights also makes the gun look right. When I got my Delta Gold Cup, I bought a set of rosewood panels for it…looked fantastic, but the checkering was so sharp it abraded my hand. I had to go back to the factory grips, but this one is not like that, it feels great to shoot.

IHMSA,
Great range report, we don't get enough of those to keep the appetite wetted... I have never tried shooting a 1911 even at 100-yards, let alone 200. I recently aquired a custom Fusion in 10MM but have not had the opportunity to shoot it yet. Thanks for sharing.

Gary, the max distance would depend on how accurate your gun is and how well you can shoot it. I can easily hit steel targets at 100 yards with my 10mm, sometimes hit them further out, but the 1911 platform is not a long-distance firearm.
The 10mm cartridge is very accurate though. I have a 10" Contender that I regularly shoot out to 200 meters on the handgun silhouette course. It will easily hit every target, perfect scores are normal.

The problem with shooting a 1911 past 100 yards is that you run out of elevation in the rear sight, then you have to guess the holdover. You should like that Fusion, the 10mm is a great cartridge!
I shot the PM7-10 again yesterday. This time I loaded up some 180 grain FMJ and JHP bullets and Accurate #7 at close to max levels. With these loads, the gun worked flawlessly, and they turned out to be very accurate at 50 yards. Once again, the UVL tarp caught all the empties. This is really an enjoyable gun to shoot, and the fit and finish is superb.
With all my 10mm brass being loaded for the Gold Cup, I brought along some of it to burn up so I can load some more for the PM7. Since the DW doesn't feed these too well, being mild loads, I used them in the IAI Javelina, which feeds them with no problem. That longslide is fun to shoot, but it isn't very disciplined in throwing the empties in one place. Despite the UVL tarp, brass was everywhere and I ended up losing a piece. But now I have some brass to reload for the DW. I think I will order a bunch of Starline brass just for it.
