The gun has been fixed. The issue was indeed the chamber. It was too tight. A gunsmith had to take a reamer to it to correct the diameter. It cost $40 and now functions fine.
I assume it must have came from the factory w a tight chamber.
Be careful w who you trade with on here. There's no way this wasn't an issue before the gun was sent.

I would bet, as I stated originally, you HAD a "match" chamber. It may have been as easy as trying different brands of ammunition until you found one that your PM digested well. I imagine the gunsmith just reamed it to a larger dimension or reduced the taper. I'm curious about the original dimensions; did the gunsmith do a chamber cast first? If so, I'd ask them for the original dimensions or the casting itself.
The previous owned may have had ammunition that fit the chamber and didn't realize the chamber was sized toward the minimum rather than maximum dimensions.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I'm going to ask you to be very careful before you suggest that you got a bad gun on trade here.
You did not change to the DW recommended lube.
You shot two bulk brands of ammunition in a gun set up for IDPA Major competition.
Did you try a spring change as suggested? You would be the third (at least) owner of this gun.
Finally you put it in the hands of a gunsmith who may very well have taken the easy way out by reaming a chamber in a gun that even you "assume it must have came from the factory w a tight chamber".
PMA-S was built for competition, it probably does have (well, now had) a tight chamber
My PMA-S stays clean and properly lubed (with Militec 1) and is shot with my reloads and a wide variety ammunition. When I got it (used) it was a little spotty on function. I tore it down, cleaned it, lubed it, and replaced springs to factory spec. I did this with the used SA Commander I bought as well, it's just common sense on a used 1911.
Your statement that "There's no way this wasn't an issue before the gun was sent" is confrontational and has no basis in fact. The seller has no impact on how you maintain or shoot a third hand used gun.
If you wish to file a complaint with DWF regarding what you believe to be a fraudulent transaction conducted on DWF, please do so via PM to an Admin.
Due to the nature of your accusation, there will be no further open post discussion and this Topic is locked.

edit to add: I have been informed that the "seller" has offered to pay the "buyer" (it was actually a trade gun for gun) for his gunsmith fee.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
