Hey Expansion:

All I can do is welcome you to the DWF.  I know nothing about DW 1911's.  However, we have members who do and I'm sure some of them will speak up.

OK-I'll speak up!

DW 1911's have a pretty strong reputation as very good production 1911's

DW is not into MIM, and never has been. Most pre CZ DW's (andan Aussie should be pre CZ) are built with some very top quality components from builders like Ed Brown, Jarvis, Millet, etc. CZ DW's have a good reputation, and the biggest rap on them is that they are very closely fitted, and sometimes seize-DW fixes the all, some of the best Customer Service in the industry.

Our Moderator Charger Fan just picked up a PMA-B (PointMan Aussie Blue), as his first DW 1911, and he will have a range report up pretty quick. Here's his:

https://www.danwessonforum.com/?page_id=3/1911-pistols/my-first-dw-1911/

My PM1-S is the most accurate pistol I own

I have never heard of anyone being unhappy with the quality of a DW 1911

If you don't want it, put a link up here and  someone here (maybe me, and I got NO money) will probably buy it.

Botton line is BUY IT! (about as subtle as a brick, huh?)

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Steve definitely knows these guns more that I do.Wink
Unfortunately, with this PMA-B being my first 1911, I don't have enough experience to be able to give much useful info on this gun...other than it feels great in my hands & has a nice trigger.   From what little I've read, one of these in good shape is slowly going up in value, so at least you probably will come out ahead in the long run in that regard.Laugh

Hopefully I'll be able to get a range report this weekend, if the weather cooperates & doesn't try to wash me back down the hill.Yell
