I apologize if this has been answered. I searched but am still not sure. I have a new Dan Wesson LASD DSP. It is pretty much the same as a Specialist except no ambi safety I find the edges of the grips to be uncomfortable. I would like to remove the grips and lightly sand the edges. Can this be done easily without issues? I have read about grip bushings and damaging and accidently removing them. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum from PA!

It should not be a problem I have removed numerous DW grip screws without incident.. Take out the grip screws and remove grips, sand edges and reinstall. If a bushing comes out with the screw chime back in here and I'll walk you thru getting it back together.

I've replaced all my 1911 scales with VZ Grips products. If you maintain a slight downward pressure on the scale as you unscrew the grip screw, the bushing will not move.

This is the easyiest procedure on a 1911 frame, even easier than removing the slide.

Thanks to those that responded. Took my time and everyone's advice. Used appropriate size Allen key and was very easy. I was just overthinking and worrying for no reason. Great forum and advice.
