I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

70's - 80's series...Geez...ZING, right over my head.embarassed

Yep, pushin' the envelope on 50 here, yet some days I feel like I'm 20 & helplessly naive (naieve? I forget which) on certain subjects...so don't make me surf the stinkin' web, dazzle me with facts!big-grin

Here you go CF, Full Sized Government models= 70 series.  It's a Colt thing. Glad I'm not pushing 50.  RollingEyesSmiley5.gif

Be sure to dig down on the link Ron provided, Series 70 is the original design, Series 80 is a 1983 redesign that includes additional internals to reduce liability from accidental discharge in case the gun is dropped. It goes beyond the "size" Colt, and others, made Series 80 in many configurations.

I'm pretty sure that any DW 1911 is a Series 70, built the way a 1911 is supposed to be.

I'd bet so too, I don't recall seeing any DW 1911 with that funky "80 series" cutout in the frame. Not that I'm an expert by any stretch.
