So my birthday is this Saturday… and the wife wanted to get me a new gun (have I mentioned how AWESOME my wife is smile )….  It just so happens I've been eyeing this DW on the internet…

I know you all expected another 15-2 variety, but I'm WAY off course with this one… An original DW Patriot Expert PTE-B occasion

This thing is GORGEOUS drool  I don't think there is anything I can do to it as far as upgrades--it is just perfect.  I'd love to find one is SS.  One cool thing is the shell casing was fired on Halloween 2002... my favorite holiday.

Happy Birthday Shoot!!!

This one caught my eye too, but I have been spending to much on revolvers, so my gun fund was low.

I wanted it to go along with my Stainless version.

I have a few of the Pre CZ 1911's I think they are a great value for great shooters.

I'm sure you will love it.

Have a Happy Birthday

Outstanding, that's a beautiful pistol. Is this your first DW 1911?

ps: I'm assuming I'll get some S/N Registry info?

And finally, Happy Birthday to a DWF Brother.

Steve

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I know you're no stranger to the 1911, congrats on getting a DW 1911, especially an unusual one like that.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Dang, that's one good looking pre-CZ DW1911, congrats!!occasion That model would be the perfect blued companion to my PMA-B…laugh

So, I've had this burning question in mind lately & haven't really found a suitable answer. Why do some 1911 models have an external extractor finger & others use an internal one?

Congrats SHOOT occasion get to rolling that hardball, it goes quick wink

CF,

I pondered that too and this was the best A: I found:

"The external design has more advantage than the original internal design. The original internal design relies on the temper of the steel to keep its' tension and perform reliably. This one really needs a lot of attention if you want your 1911 to feed and extract 100%, it's not hard to do it just takes a bit of understanding how the rim of the cartridge travel through it. The internal extractor does not like it when you feed a round manually into the chamber without the magazine. If you want to destroy the tension on an original design internal extractor that will do it."

Thanks for that, I'll make it a point to not chamber a round without the magazine in it.

Just a little off topic (hey, it's me) did you guys know that Ruger is now in the 1911 business?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The more I research the Patriot, the more i realized there aren't many out there...  Lots of  CCO's and Classics and Valors...

There are so many models of the older DW's it is hard to tell the differences someties.

Glad I got it.

I've noticed that, too. I hope to land a nice example myself, one day.
