That would be cool. I know we could sell at least twelve of them.
I always buy 2-3, extras just get put away. I also think they would have a wider appeal off DWF in the 1911 community
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Well, after scouring the internet for DW 1911 break in info....
I field stripped it and covered all moving surfaces with lubriplate. The only things I noticed were the recoil spring guide appears to be rubbing on the inside of the frame on one side, and... the recoil spring guide is ground on the back end (raw steel, no bluing)... not sure if this is factory or not.
Seems like most DW 1911's are built so tight, they really need to be lubed up during break-in.
Anybody have any experience/wisdom to share?
Come hell or high water she's getting 100 rounds run through on Wed morning ...

The only good advice I've seen for DW 1911's is to break them in very well lubed, and cut back on it as you see that there are no problems. DW 1911's have a reputation for being pretty tight, sometimes they don't get the extra fitting that a real top shelf 1911 will get to loosen things up slightly.
I remember some discussion in our 1911 Forum about conversation someone had with Keith about lubricant and there was one the factory recommends.

I've had a few 1911's before, but none of them had the close tolerances of this DW... it is machining perfection.
I have to admit, it is much smoother now that I put the lubriplate in it... I guess the real test will be running 100 of the WWB from wally world through it.
even the barrel bushing to frame fit is very tight--I HAD to use a wrench to turn it.

Here you go -- a great range report ... I had ZERO problems with the inital firing of the Patriot. I used 5 different mags and never had any feed problems with any of them. I just used some cheap 230 hardball and it gave excellent results.
First 7 rounds...
It was shooting a bit low/left for my liking, so I cranked the rear sight up a little and kept blasting away... 100 rounds makes quite the hole !!!
It probably would have been a smaller hole, but once I realized it was running fine, I started shooting faster, double-tapping, etc... Still shooting low for me, and I don't like raising the rear sight too much, so I may search for a lower front sight.
No feeding problems, no ejection problems, quick back on target, SUPER LIGHT TRIGGER--surprised me a few times. I'll keep it lubed heavy for another couple hundred rounds.
I highly reccommend this model if you can find one--I'd like to compare it to a new CZ one someday.
Pics--just because

No secret that I love 1911's, surprising that I only own one, and have only ever owned 2. I am sort of afraid that any 1911 I get now would just not measure up to my pre-CZ DW, without spending big $$$. I would really like to get blued Pointman someday!

Well, I finally got to see the pics. Our civilian internet was destroyed in a rocket attack on 19 APR and I've been without DW pics since the brigade servers block pictures on the unclass side. Looks nice Shoot!
On my Kimbers, as part of the break-in, I wipe it dry, put toothpaste on the rails, watch TV, and rack the slide back and forth. Wife hates it, but toothpaste works on all moving parts as a light polish. I've even put a dab on the trigger of an Airweight and spent about an hour dryfiring. Real smooth trigger now.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I guess this might be an acceptable excuse, but we're only accepting it this one time

The improvement JMB made to the 1911 was external extractor for relibality, intergrated barrel & feed ramp and some other minor stuff like lowered ejection port and as some would say called the thing the "High Power".
The DW I want is one with at least two of those upgrades if possible, I know some are external extractor models with S&W made slides. But were some with one piece barrel and feed ramp? I guess most upper grade models were also sporting the lowered and flared ejection port.
Oop's almost forgot HAPPY BIRTHDAY you lucky dog.
