I am uncertain as to which DW to purchase. I love them both. Thoughts?

You already know the answer...... Both!!!!!!

Depends on use and your preferences.

ECO is shorter, lighter, set up with night sights so as a carry gun its ready to go.

ECP is thinner, and bob tailed. Brass sight and flat trigger would be the preference points.

For carry OOTB the ECO would do it for me.

I think the ECP has more styling (marketing) incorporated into it.

I have no experience with the ECP, but the ECO is one of my all-time favorite handguns.

CC'd a Combat Commander for a while in the 70's, but I had not seriously considered a 1911 as an EDC for probably 40 years until I got the ECO.  Love it!

Jim

I got ECO in April. About 300 into 500 round breakin period. Fed red 147 and cci blazer brass 147 and remingtion rn 115 and Winchester nato 124 all flawless.

sig 147 vcrown is “fat” and many rounds fail the plunk test in my eco, but pass in my Remington1911 r1 government. was jamming the eco. I assume tight tolerances are cause.

im experimenting with fed hst 147 and have some speer 147 gold dot on the way. Ive shot about 100 HST thru it so far one fail to feed.

trying to get to one affordable carry ammo for all my defense guns. (Some are suppressed for home defense). I really liked the sig until it met the ECO. Hopefully the hst will work out. Its pre-pandemic price was less than the speer.

test carry of the ECO is awesome. Melts into side of my hip. Using wilson mags and Wilson pancake holster. Very comfortable. The leather squeaks like a saddle though. Trying to figure that one out. The Wilson mage stick out a bit but add extra round.
There, my FIRST post 😉

Welcome to the Forum!

My 'go to' 9mm SD ammo is 147 gr. HST, either standard or +P.  Runs 100% in all my 9mm's, and ballistics tests put it as good or better than anything else out there.  Never had issues with Ranger T's or Gold Dots, either.

Can't speak to the ECO specifically, since mine is a .45.

Regards,

Jim

I am lucky enough to own both. Each of them are superior in their own respect.  The ECP is best for carry with its bobbed grip and the TCP is the better nightstand firearm due to its rail (w attached light).
Leastwise that's the way I look at them...

I have the ECO and love it.  Don't have experience with the ECP but all my DW's are fabulous guns.  (I have 4 of them...)

I love my ECO, I have no experience  with the ECP but as others have said, I like everything Dan Wesson.  What do you plan to use it for?

For carry, I like the ECO and it's night sites.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
