Anyone own or knows the story on these pistols (Dan Wesson .40 SS Custom 1911)? I have a chance to buy one from a guy, but I can't find any info online about them. No reviews at all. Or Specs. Someone told me they don't make them anymore???? That bad or just...they "don't make them anymore"
Any help with information on this pistol would be appreciated before I make a decision to purchase. thanks

DW has always been pretty willing to build custom/one off guns. My guess is that DW in Norwich, NY can provide more info as long as you can give them a Serial Number. Give them a call
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

These were regular production they were discontinued in 2010. They're similar to the pointman 7, came from the factory with a fiber optic front sight. Check out the 1911 forum in the DW section I'm sure one of them has one and can comment on it if you don't get an answer here.

Like Superdan stated, these were offered at the factory. They were primarily called SSC, Super Stack Custom was the acronym. They had most of the bells and whistles on them. I do own a PM-40 though which was the Pointman series in .40 without all the SSC options. Few of those were made to my knowledge.
