After a recent theft, I found myself needing to replace my beloved Kimber 1911 target pistol. I have been a long time fan of the DW revolvers (have owned three) and thought I would give their 1911 a try. After a $700 deal on GB, I picked up nice looking PM7 in 45acp.
She has a few issues, but all in all I am pleased with her. Here is a list of the issues I have found so far.
- The rod portion of the 2 piece Guide Rod is missing
- Rear sight elevation screw is bent/unusable
- Grip bushings misaligned (my gunsmith had to replace them)
- Grip screws mismatched/incorrect for pistol (my gunsmith had to replace them)
- Original barrel replaced with aftermarket (Jarvis)

I think PM7 is the 1911 that really got DW into 1911's in a big way, it would not surprise me if there are as many PM7's made as almost all the other models combined. Sorry yours was so mistreated, you are doing a good job of restoring it.
FYI- My PM1-S came with a Jarvis barrel
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

PM-1B or PM-1S Major, right? The Majors were made with Jarvis barrels and lot's of top quality name brand internals.
