Welcome to the Forum, very nice 1911 and yes you got it right serial #s starting with an X were experimental, I had a Blued Pointman that was used for the Shot Show in 2004. You have a rare find. I regret selling mine to a guy in Big Lake, just had to many DW 1911s at the time so something had to go. I'm in the Mpls area too.

Thanks for the kind words. I bought a pointman major PM10-S before the 38 super. I wanted a 10mm first and the gunshop had a Kimber, a colt and the Dan Wesson in 10mm. I compared the fit and workmanship, bought the Dan Wesson and never regretted it. I was back at the same gunshop a few months later and saw the 38 super and fell in love at first sight. ( don't tell my wife)
The 38 super has a great trigger but I have had a little trouble finding a load but using a montana gold fmj bullet designed for the 357 sig and blue dot powder, she shoots great groups now!
She's a Serva gun with a slide fit that feels like its running on ball bearings.

A beautiful DW in what is considered to be a perfect "shooters" caliber for 1911. If I ever actually start reloading again, I will be in the market for a 1911 .38 Super.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
