Here are some pics of my PM7-38.  I bought it new 22 June 2004.  They had just brought out the PM7 line and I believe it was some kind of experimental because of the serial number starts with XP and it has a ramped barrel.

Welcome to the Forum, very nice 1911 and yes you got it right serial #s starting with an X were experimental,  I had a Blued Pointman that was used for the Shot Show in 2004.  You have a rare find. I regret selling mine to a guy in Big Lake, just had to many DW 1911s at the time so something had to go. I'm in the Mpls area too.

That's pretty neat, especially with the serial number.smile I may be wrong, but I think Supermagfan is the only other member here with a .38 Super DW 1911.

Cool gun for sure, great caliber too cool.  CF is right, I have a custom one in .38 Super, but yours is a production gun, sort of it sounds, which is real cool.  Have you fored it yet?  Accuracy?

Thanks for the kind words.  I bought a pointman major PM10-S before the 38 super.  I wanted a 10mm first and the gunshop had a Kimber, a colt and the Dan Wesson in 10mm.  I compared the fit and workmanship,  bought the Dan Wesson and never regretted it.  I was back at the same gunshop a few months later and saw the 38 super and fell in love at first sight. ( don't tell my wife)

The 38 super has a great trigger but I have had a little trouble finding a load but using a montana gold fmj bullet designed for the 357 sig and blue dot powder, she shoots great groups now!

She's a  Serva gun with a slide fit that feels like its running on ball bearings.

A beautiful DW in what is considered to be a perfect "shooters" caliber for 1911. If I ever actually start reloading again, I will be in the market for a 1911 .38 Super.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
