Started life as a Stainless Steel (CA Approved) Commander Classic Bobtail in .45.  1996 date on the shell casing.

Purchased locally from a gentleman who also had a Patriot.  Gun was in a bit of rough shape, so a quick call to Dan Wesson resulted in a service call.  Had a fantastic discussion with the gunsmith directly about options, and settled on:

- Installed new bushing
- Smoothed top face of hammer
- Slide stop notched
- Blended grip safety to frame and extractor to slide
- Replaced the sights with brand new tactical night sights.
- Refinished gun in the bead blasted matte finish from the newer models

Shoots and handles like a dream now.

Very nice resto! It looks really good. The Patriot pic is a cool plus.

Next up, a full range report please.

Very nice!

Love the Bobtailed Dan Wesson's and the early Patriots!

FYI, yours was produced in 2006, not 1996.

Dan Wesson didn't make 1911 pistols in 1996, and CZUSA didn't buy them until 2005.

I just got into 1911s last year, I now know what I have been missing.  Your pistol looks great - and I am not even a stainless fan.

Nice job on the restore.  I've got a Patriot just like it but without the bobtail - it's one of my favorites.
