Hi Guys:
While looking through some great old pistol magazines, I ran across a Dan Wesson Model 15 review that was published in MAGNUM POWER! magazine in May of 1980. MAGNUM POWER! was a sister publication to the somewhat famous PISTOLERO magazine and HANDGUN TESTS magazine as you may recall (if you are old enough). These magazines were published by Phil Engeldrum and had a wonderful concept of refusing adverstising from arms manufacturers so that their reivews and tests were not tainted. They told it like they saw it. They tested most pistols with 4 or more brands of ammo and showed the targets. Kind of like GUN TESTS is today.
So I uploaded the article to my web server and here is the url to the PDF.

By the way... if any of you have old copies of PISTOLERO or HANDGUN TESTS or MAGNUM POWER! and would like to part with them please PM me.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy this old 1980's test of the model 15. I think they got it right...

Great read, thanks for posting. The writer was very candid on his opinions. he commented on one thing I have always felt about on our beloved DW's but nobody has ever mentioned.. I too think the cylinders should swing out just a liitle more, not for reloading but so you can lay it on a bench and the cylinder will STAY open. Just a peave of mine I suppose.
Thanks again.

You know, you are right... all of my DW's tend to have two spent cartridges hang when dumping the shells... he was right on with that comment about the cylinder swing. For sure the staff at Handgun Tests and Magnum Power and PISTOLERO were very unabashed in their comments, both good and bad about pistols and rifles. You got to remember, they bought these guns off the rack... rejecting any offers of "testers" from manufacturers or gunsmiths.
From the few issues of PISTOLERO I have, they seemed to really like the Colt Python.
