Ad from the June 1982 edition of "The Silhouette" shows
Available for immediate delivery: Dan Wesson 8" and 10" non-ported barrel .44 Magnum pistols. Will make official IHMSA weight.
List, $401.15, IHMSA members only $324.00
Also:
Dan Wesson .44 Mag Barrel assemblies complete. BA-44-V10 non-ported and BA-44-VH8 non-ported. Special to IHMSA members, your choice $115 plus $2 shipping.
Man, nice prices! Dan Wesson .44's came with factory ported barrels. IHMSA rules did not allow ported guns in competition, thus these special versions.

The ad doesn't say. I would think the shrouds were non-ported also, because it would be difficult to show at gun check-in that the barrel was non-ported without having to disassemble the shroud. Steel shooters didn't like to loosen their barrels as it could change point of impact and require re-zeroing the gun. That is pure conjecture though, as I have no proof.
