I would like to thank Rash for providing this letter. It contains some very informative information about the front sights, the grip blank and serial numbers.
I have included the text of the letter below as well as an image of the original letter.
IMPORTANT CHANGES IN OUR LINE NOT SHOWN IN OUR LITERATURE
At DAN WESSON ARMS we are always striving to improve the quality of our revolvers. During the past twelve months, for example, we have made at least fifteen minor and major modifications to our guns. Obviously, with changes happening so often, it is more than likely that our literature can’t keep up with the changes. And that’s the present situation with our brand new color brochure and our price sheets dated February 2, 1976. Please take the time to read the following information with regard to changes.
INTERCHANGEABLE COLOR FRONT SIGHTS
If you received your Model 15 with a colored insert in the front sight, the sight blade is interchangeable. Because of the difference in sight height, however, colored front sight blades are not available for any Model 14 revolvers or for any Model 15’s with serial numbers below 50,000. For Model 15’s with serial numbers over 50,000 which do not have interchangeable colored front sight blades, a colored front sight blade can be installed by you or your gunsmith by removing the front sight retaining pin and the front sight from your gun, inserting a colored front sight blade, drilling a 1/16” hole through the new sight blade and inserting the pin.
PISTOL PAC CHANGES
The color brochure and the February 2, 1976 price sheet shows and describes a walnut inlet blank included as part of the Pistol Pac. Because of numerous requests, effective with shipments from DAN WESSON ARMS commencing April 1, 1976 each Pistol Pac will contain a DAN WESSON ARMS belt buckle and emblem instead of the walnut inlet blank. Inlet blanks and emblems continue to be available as accessories, as shown on your present price sheet. Additional DAN WESSON ARMS belt buckles can be purchased from eh factory at $3.95 each.
GRIP STYLE CHANGES
It is more than likely that the Oversize Target grip pictured on the guns in our color brochure will not be the one you receive on your gun. We are in the process of changing the style and configuration of the grip. During this period of change there will be two or three different style grips installed on our guns, either smooth or checkered. In any event, they will be Oversize target, as per the specifications on the back of our brochure.

Great document! That answers a lot of questions including the front sights and when they stopped shipping the grip blanks.
Could you post a copy of the document under "Files" so we can download?
If anyone has copies of any old DW correspondence, it would be of great benefit to make copies and post them in the Files section.
Thanks Jody & Rash.
