Hello i just acquired a nice 375 super mag with a very low serial number of 0002 and i heard the low numbers like this were usually specially made for certain people. And what would the value of something like this in this condition be around. Thanks in advance guys. This is my first DW and it was acquired in Flagstaff,AZ on route 66 from a gentleman that had it in a controlled safe since mid to late 80s he said.im unsure of how to post photos but its in great condition and never looks to of been fired. Ive posted it on the internet if you search dan wesson serial 0002.

Easy to post pics hit Attachments below your message then hit select files. The problem with the 375 Supermag is lack of Ammo. You can't buy ready to shoot ammo for the gun and finding dyes. bullets & brass is not easy. You have to reload to use gun though if mine were new I would not shoot it. Because of this the value of 375 supermags have been dragged down below other supermags. I looked at your pic did it come in an original box? The last one like it in the original box with tool and manual sold for around $1600 but more like $1400 is going price unless you get a bidding war going on it. I have one also serial #14 NIB

First off, congrats finding your .375 SM, it looks great! And it is your first DW? Even better! Sooo you just happened to be passing through Flagstaff & caught wind of a guy wanting to offload his old Dan? What luck!
Regarding the serial numbers, there is early literature showing that the first run of 375's were only available to members of IHMSA, and that the S/N's could be ordered with their IHMSA member numbers. I would be very intrigued to know that IHMSA member number 0002 was a real member's number & not a special order number, like say from a DW employee. Same goes with Stan's 0014 number. A few other members here have low numbers too. Maybe ask the previous owner if he was member number 0002 for the answer? Or what was the story on that number? It would be really interesting to know. I have #111, and so far have not been able to prove that it was an actual member's number.
Regardless, I'm glad you chose to share what info you have on this gun so far, that's pretty cool! If you do decide to shoot it, it is certainly a unique cartridge, and as Stan alluded, you will need to either "roll your own" or buy some ammo from someone who loads this round. Reed's used to make some ammo, and currently it's on their site, but as of today shows out of stock... REEDS 375SM Maybe they could be coaxed into making some more?
