The DWA medallion was used on the early guns.  I'm not sure when it was changed to DW, but all of mune have the DW medallion.  All of mine are stainless so they were all made after 1978.

Someone here probably knows the exact changeover, probably done at a model change.

In case I haven't welcomed you here, welcome.

My first one was 7261x, and mine wore a plain wood Target style, non checkered grip, sounds a lot like yours.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

According to the Registry list, yours was probably manufactured around 1977 ~ 1978, which was smack-dab in the middle of the "DWA" grip medallion years.smile Your gun should also have the colored interchangeable front sights, by my guess.

The DW medallion logo came along sometime after 1981, if I recall correctly.
