The next piece I've acquired is a Pen Holder / Paperweight made with a .44 Magnum cylinder, that the factory produced as a promotional item. The guy I bought it from (Bob), lived on the Wesson estate most of his life (his Mom was the caretaker) and he used to ride the school bus with Seth's soon-to-be wife.  His Aunt & Uncle worked at the Monson factory from the very beginning and when they moved to Palmer, she built the .44Mags.  She got to stamp the first one off the line 000001.

Bob was shooting in an ICORE match this morning at our local club and I went out to meet him, to work out the deal.  Real nice guy. He brought a few of his collector pieces to show me, which included a beautiful unfired stainless 44 that was the last one his Aunt built, which was stamped with S/N;

The latest SuperMag I bought came with an IHMSA wooden display case, in addition to these pins from 1988 & 1989. Can anybody shed some light on the meaning?

Commemorative pins for cleaning a bank of targets in a match, I'd guess.....

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

That's what they are for. The 2 ram pins probably given out for winning a class, but I can't really read them.

Sorry for the crappy iPad pic. There is a 4-piece set of both silver and gold IHMSA pins with a '10' consisting of a Chicken, Pig, Turkey and Ram. Additionally, two larger Ram pins; Idaho 1988 International and Idaho Aug 7-12, 1989 Elgin T. Gates Memorial International.

Saw this neat Dan Wesson cylinder pen holder on FeeBay.

Seller said; "a rare dan wesson pencil holder that was given to my wife while she worked at the plant in the 80's. a real .357 pistol cylinder mounted on a block of wood with a dan wesson sticker which is up very little and could be glued back down if you wanted to. very few were ever made and probably none still around".

It sold for $66 .. too rich for my blood for memorabilia in that poor condition.  Somebody was probably thinking they could use the Cylinder or Extractor, but if so, they are in for an unpleasant surprise! One of the bores has a huge crack running the full length and another has a hairline fracture full length too (enlarge picture 2).  The extractor is rusty and totally shot to hell. Also, the entire assembly has been secured on the wood block by an oversize screw in place of the ejector rod, so I'd say the threads of the extractor are destroyed as well.  It has no value other than a (sorry looking) Pen Holder ... but now it is here for posterity !
