Ok I think this is at worst a fair deal, but I think I may be getting a decent deal. This would give me one small frame and one large frame in my DW collection.

Very little wear and a faint turn ring. The frame has that purple to it but like on my 1911's I not only don't mind it but I like the character.

And there is an extra 8" ported barrel???

Seems like it. Does the box/sleeve have matching serial #?

Just an assumption but it's in very good condition and usually when kept like this a lot of times all accessories are matching. But I will ask before I offer.

Under 1K is a fair deal.  Completed auctions are running 1K-1200, lately.  Some are higher/more for condition/ original items.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thanks for all the info. I feel good about this as I better as it's a 100 mile trip just to see it and then if it looks as good as it's pics , buy it.

The yellow plastic cylinder spacer is a sign the gun is either unfired or barely fired. They tend to get lost or thrown away quickly. There will be a cylinder line from the factory timing it and test firing it. I would not hesitate to finish the purchase. 2 hrs and it could be yours.

What’s nice about this one is that it’s as complete as it gets from the factory with the extra ported barrel, shroud brush and all of the paperwork.

Well all of you did your job as enablers!!!! LOL I figured with my limited revolver knowledge this was more than a fair deal and all of you set my mind even more at ease. I am meeting him on Monday and if he is not a Photoshop expert it is coming home with me. Oh Kurt, it does have the proper tag on it's box thanks for pointing that out to check.

So that ported barrel was in the box from the factory?

Yes the shrouds ported on the .44s so both barrels were included, very poor design which is why the shroud brush is needed

Thanks, I couldn't see the ports in the shroud in his pics, that's why I wondered why there was a ported barrel in the box.

I made the trek there and back and I did not come back empty handed. Tom the owner was well versed in DW's and is/has been on our forum. I forgot to grab his screen name before we left, if he's lurking I'm sure he will chime in!  It was as clean as the pics it does have some muzzle barrel wear and some on the frame. The turn ring is faint so probably not a whole bunch of rounds thru. The wear seems to be consistent with carry. Now a quick ? and then some pics. The rust inhibitor paper is date marked 1979, the information papers that came with it for warranty work, parts/accessory dealers was marked April 1981, so I would assume the barrel paper was old and the gun is of the early 80's? Just don't know the exact date.

44 mags were released in late 1980 with the release of the Dove Grey introductory gun. The first 10,000 had the short trigger spur yours has. I would guess the gun left the factory in early 1981. 1979 was when the anticorrosion paper was made. So, sometime after April 1981.
