So I previously purchased a Dan Wesson 445 monson manufactoring. It came with the traditional barrel and a barrel with a scope rail and no slot for a front sight. I later learned that it was a hunter pack. Very little information is available, I tried searching and asking for information but all that could be found was a small photo in a magazine. I have done my best making everything correct.
The Burris 1.5-4 power scope is correct. The rings are new old stock Burris, I dont know if they are correct or not. It was the best I could figure out. I found a case for a good price. Just need a patch and a tool. Between it all I have about $700 into it.

I have never seen a scope mount like this either. The only reason I think it would be factory is the lack of front sight slot in the the shroud. So the shroud had to have a rail of some sort on it, I don't know why someone would replace one rail with another. The picture in the magazine of the hunter pack has the two different types of barrel shrouds, this is the only refrence that I have found.

I have to say that it looks to me like a custom setup. As others have said the mounting rail looks wrong. I seem to remember that the hunter packs used a standard Burris scope rail. I may be wrong. I need to find pics.
Also, that porting looks like Magna-Port style. It would never work with a standard DW ported barrel because it looks to be too far back from the muzzle to vent from the "standard" DW expansion area in the shroud (I'm pretty sure), so I think it must be custom because if DW made ported BA's for the 445, I'm quite sure that they would have done it the least expensive way possible; meaning follow their 44 magnum format.
That being said, having a custom BA is nothing to sneeze at. A lot of guys are buying custom extra-heavy shrouds from forum member Eric to add to their collections.
That's a gorgeous gun and a great price. Now it needs to be shot.

I have never seen a rail like this. On any Dan Wesson. Since it is missing the front sight it had to have started as a hunter pack. Illtry and take a closer look when i get home to see how the rail is attached to the shroud. Maybe the rail is a complete custom job on the hunter pack barrel/shroud? Though why someone would add a second method of mounting a scope that took a lot of machining when it came from the factory with a scope mount and scope.
