Thinking of buying this Super Mag but neither I nor the seller (a friend) has any idea of value.  The only mark on it is the drag line on the cylinder.  It hasn't been fired much.  I think it would make a great deer pistol.  And I all ready load for it.

Looking for opinions on value.

Great guns, only issue is ammo availability. If youbreload, no issue, if not, it's hard to find and expensive.

Look at gunbroker for completed auctions to get a value .

A 357 maximum like new in box I would say $1400 to $1800 looks to be in great shape the extra barrel there never used so I doubt it was shot much at all. You can still buy 357 max ammo and you can fire 357 magnum and 38 special also out of that gun!

I looked on GB and didn't find any sold.  Found similar for sale on GI.  I think a fair price is still out my reach.  I'll see if there's anything I can trade.  I think it will look good next to my 460 and 480.

Thank you Scout728.  I signed in and searched completed deals and didn't see those.  I made a deal with owner today.  It will take a couple months.  Fixed income sucks.  Either food or guns.  Guess I start dieting.

If you already reload .357 Mag, a Model 40 is a no-brainer.

Boomer,

A most excellent revolver! It's going to be a fun one to hunt with.

Are you currently handloading the .357 Maximum?, maybe for a Contender?

Me too!

I have all the components and tools, just haven't needed any.  I 'm loading 480 Ruger and 460 SW.  This will make a fine deer pistol.  I've got a Leupold scope somewhere to mount on it.

Good news is there are now several companies making 357 maximum ammo. Price used to be $1.80 to $2.00 each now you can get it as low as $1.30 each from a couple of companies. If you're like me who has no patience to re-load this is good news! If you never used Ammo seek it's a great site to find the lowest price on ammo!Screenshot-2025-02-01-10.01.28-PM.pngImage Enlarger

Picked up the pistol today.  Cast some 180 gr GC bullets yesterday.  Should have em loaded by the weekend.

It came with the Buehler frame mount scope base.  Pros and Cons?  Not sure if I like the idea of clamping on to the frame.

They used to be stamped Dan Wesson, and may still be.

I picked up one recently, they still are.

If you've got a vent rib, the clamp on style works well and doesn't damage the frame or shroud.
