Crazy talk on the street and the Gunbroker bids reflect it. .223's are going like Hotcakes!!
I look at that HK and think, Hmmm! Should I??
But, now isn't the time to sell (for me). It's time to BUY!
So, I picked up the new Glock 23 Gen 4. Have to wait for the paperwork to clear. Also put in for concealed license. I'm wondering which one will come through first?
On a side note, (*smile*) I STILL haven't fired that 744...

Side note. Glock cleared first. CPL second two days later. Go figure... Picked up 300 rounds for it. Will take it to the range to feel it out.
Saw the .357 stainless super mag posted in the classifieds here last year. I really must take time to visit more often. At $775 I would have made a bid.

I saw those Dave. Pretty nice. If I ever get an inkling to fire this thing again I would consider picking one up. However, if I find another new old in a box you can bet I would buy it outright.
Now, don't go tempting me with some more internet gun auction sites. I know how you are...

Hey Matt.
I realize this post is very old but it still looks like you are holding out.
Don't let these guys twist your arm about shooting that lovely 744- they tried to do the same thing to me 3-4 years back.
I have to agree with those who say " Dans is for shooting", but mint condition Dans are pretty hard to come by. I would say if it has been fired and you have no Dan Wesson to shoot, shoot and enjoy it. If you have another, keep it mint.
As I sit here writing this, I have a safe queen (my only safe queen) that a few members here likely remember me posting several years ago. I cannot bring myself to shoot this one since I have 3 Model 15's and a Model 40 if I feel the need to shoot 357/SM.
I feel at times that I should shoot it since I can't take it with me. But, the flip side is how many unfired, museum condition, 40 year old W12's are there out there? I suspect not many. One day I will likely break down and shoot it but at the present time, I am in no hurry. I would also suspect that mint 744's are no longer plentiful these days either.
In the mean time, enjoy that Glock.
Here is the one that I can't bring myself to shoot.

I love the post CD. A safe queen made me chuckle. That is soo appropriate.
There aren't many DW's like ours left, and that is primarily why I keep it as it is. Needless to say I will NEVER let it fall into my two boys hands as they would not appreciate it in the way we do.
I would sell it before I pass just for the peace of mind that it went to someone who truly appreciates it. But that is a long time coming.
However, who knows what the winds of economic change brings to us all...
I appreciate your view in what we have. (Your .357 is mmm mmm nice!!!)
That, to me is what makes me smile when I take it out of the safe and say, "Oh yeah! Very few have the opportunity to hold one of these in their hands.)

Matt,
Good point about letting it fall into the "wrong hands", so to speak. We have to preserve a few of these old school Dans from the 70's and 80's even though they will never likely be ultra valuable. I enjoy all of my firearms but every time I look at the perfect deep bluing on my W12, I throw the lid back on it and back into the safe it goes. I seriously question whether I will ever shoot it but it is a gorgeous firearm.
Even without shooting it, I still get enjoyment from owning it.
Scorpio,
Nice Pac buddy. If you ever decide to let that one go, let me know.
Since I am such a nice guy, I would even be willing to pay up to 2x what it is worth (see pic), but we would have to deduct $9 for that missing grip.

Went to the store to buy the Mrs a Valentines present. Picked up a Ruger LCR .38 with laser. The last one they had. And BINGO!
They got a new shipment of Bushmasters. Selling fast.
Picked up a XM 15E2S, telescopic butt. NIB. SCORE!
I'll sit on this one for a while also.
Nothing says "Happy Valentines" more than a Ruger for the Mrs and Bushmaster for me!

Yeah, it counts. However, currently gas is much easier to purchase than lead. I think everyone here knows my position on shooting this thing. I keep some loaded and carry select ones with me while I pursue other pleasures. When it comes to using what I have, no hesitation. However, I keep what I have and enjoy my other pursuits.
I like collecting beautiful things (firearms included), but I am one who enjoys my possessions accordingly. Now, given the beautiful summer Seattle is enjoying, I prefer to spend my time on the water. Where I grew up on.
Eventually I will release this Dan to another aficionado. But for now, I enjoy owning an unusual one, belonging to the forum as an owner and posting here occasionally.
I think the day I take it out and shoot some rounds through it, I will sell it to another who truly appreciates it.
It's just the way I am.

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with that opinion. I too, have that opinion regarding some of my firearms. I have a few that have either never been fired (outside of the factory) or seldom fired. I haven't yet had the heart to fire them myself, instead choosing to keep them well cleaned & lubed. Here's Ed & Fred, a pair of sequential 2-digit model 12's. I'm pretty confident that Ed has only been factory fired, whereas Fred may have digested as many as a box down the pipe.
Ed's on the left...
Then there's my D11 Fixed barrel .38 Spl. This guy doesn't appear to have digested more than a fistful of rounds either. This gun looks every bit as clean as Ed in the recoil shield & firing pin area.
I've also got this Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 IHMSA numbered gun. 500 were made, 250 of which went to the Ruger Collectors Association...so I suppose this is one of 250, since my s/n lands in the "general public" range. I haven't sent a round down the pipe & neither did the original owner.
That's okay though, because the non-IHMSA verson of this gun goes with me on every range trip. I LOVE shooting this particular gun!
The other one I haven't fired has been my HS Sentinel MK III. This gun has a really low round count & is super clean. I have the identical gun in my DW 15-1, and have shot probably 800 rounds down the pipe, so no real remorse with cleaning & lubing this one & putting it away.
Last one. One the in the "seldom fired" category. I have only ran 20 rounds down the pipe (four cylinders full) of this one. This is a 1-of-5 known to exist United Sporting Arms .454 Magnum (Casull) IHMSA Silhouette 10" stainless gun.
No idea how many rounds the previous owner used, but looking at the recoil shield, it wasn't many. This gun isn't docile by probably most any opinion.
Part of it's pedigree...
