I was finally able to locate and buy a 744 Monson gun in the Commie-wealth of MA. This is no easy feat as you can't bring them into the state unless they had at some point been owned here.
I got it at a shop which I pass on commute after a tip from a member on NES (Northeast Shooters). It was the gun shop owner's who ordered a special serial number... his initials then '-1'. It's a 6" V with ported shroud/standard barrel.
I'm now looking for a 6" VH shroud and I'm bidding on an 8" VH. I contacted Eric (EWK) but he may not have any available until summer or fall.
Love these revolvers! Funny how it dwarfs my S&W 629 and my DW 15-2.

You're not allowed to import a hand gun into MA? What is that all about? I'm trying to find a 744 but they are not easy to find up north here.
If made before 1998 and not on the AG's 'approved weapons roster' no, unless it had previously been registered in MA. Just one of the many attempts to prevent us dangerous types from obtaining weapons without an outright ban.

I didn't realize Massachusetts was so restrictive either. Bummer. Shouldn't you be able to buy any DW produced in MA?
Should? Yes, absolutely, but the moonbats of the state have conjured up all kinds of ridiculous laws under the guise of 'public safety' that restrict the purchase of many firearms and ammunition. The former AG Martha Coakley has threatened many online venders with frivolous lawsuits to dissuade them from shipping ammo or components to MA even though there is no law against it.
5 Years ago I won an auction for a DW 44 that was in PA. When i went to my local FFl to arrange shipping he told me I couldn't bring it in to MA. At the same time I was picking up an HK93, collapsible stock, bayonet, a few 40rd mags and five 25 rd mags that I had shipped in from CO. Wheel gun = bad, extra killy looking, death dealing 'assault weapon' = perfectly fine because it was made before 1994. It is absolutely mind boggling that these people get elected.
We cannot buy any Glock handguns (from a dealer) because the AG and or Executive Office of Public Safety and Security doesn't like the loaded chamber indicator on them which happens to be nearly identical to other guns that ARE ok to buy.
MA is in direct competition with CA, CTand NY for assinine gun laws

So a revolver made prior to 1994 is OK? If that is the case, there are tons of Dan's you could buy. Did I read it wrong?
No, the 1994 date is the 'Assault Weapons Ban' which went away in most states. I can bring in a 'pre-ban' 'assault weapon' without issue.
For hand guns, MA has it's own convoluted scheme. If made prior to 1998 and not on the 'Approved Weapons Roster and not previously registered to an individual in MA then you cannot transfer it in. If you own such a firearm and move to MA then that's fine.
It makes zero sense except that it's another way for the MA .gov to infringe.
