8" 744VH made it home today:

Palmer roll mark, but the serial #44S0005XX fits into the 1989 range.

She shoots beautifully and the trigger is amazing..stacks predictably, but is smoother, shorter and lighter than my Colt Python!

Very clean gun! My only .44 DW is a 10" VH stainless version.

That's a really nice looking 44 - they don't come around in that condition very often.

And DWAS has kicked in!  Parents got a 15-2 Pak with tools with a 4" heavy, 6" light and 8" light barrel, I picked up a 4" light/8" Heavy pak with tools (hopefully shipping today!) and then another 44 8V with older Redfield EER scope on it, all from GunBroker.  Both of my guns should be shipping this week, so then I can get pics of the whole family!  That will make 8 DW's for me; 5 1911's and 3 revolvers!

Not that I think it is a problem.

But I'm curious if the Wesson Firearms Palmer frame would have been sold new with a Monson style Dan Wesson Arms shroud. Or would that have to be a later union ??

I don't know.  The serial # is during the transition, so maybe it is a leftover gun?  My other 2 are both Monsons and all seem to be the same quality wise.

What I think I know about this is that during the transition times, Large Frame guns were being produced in Palmer. Since a Barrel Assembly is NOT a gun, it could source from Monson and still be original to a Palmer gun

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Makes sense.  The Large frames were always done in Palmer, but stamped Monson, so it would make sense.  Gun shoots great and I now have a 8" V model 44 to go with it!  I have some sight/scope options I will be playing around with soon once the snow melts and the ground dries out!
