I just pickud up a DW model V8S in beautiful condition. The serial number is SM003xx and was made in Monson. Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture? The gun is came with the original box box with tools and manual. I know that ammo is not commercially available but does anyone know where I can get a few rounds of hand loaded stuff that I can trust? Was the $875 that I paid for this gun a reasonable price?

You can look at our serial # list for an approx. date of manufacture. 375s are not well represented but it looks to me like 1983-84 would be a good guess.
I don't have a 375 but other guys here might be able to point you in the right direction to find a little ammo. To shoot the 375 really requires getting into reloading for it, even more so than the other Supermags I'd say.
$875 would be a reasonable price for a good 375SM, even more so since it is great shape and came with the original box and accessories. But we will need some to be sure!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The 375 is a reloaders cartridge.
You can find brass now and then on the net, or cut down 375 win mag brass.
Not to hijack but this week I was talking to the neighbor of a friend of mine and the subject of revolvers came up. I mentioned Dan Wesson, he said I have some Dan Wesson's, I asked which ones, he said a 15-2 pistol pack and a 375SM. We chatted a bit and he reloads and has the trim die for the 300 win mag brass, said I could borrow it if I need to cut down any brass. This guy only lives about two miles from me, its a small world.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

In my non-existent experience with this cartridge, I'd agree. At least with .357 SM and .445 SM, you can shoot ammunition that is much more readily available in commercial loadings.

Hi,I've had an order with them since 9/30/12, I'm still waiting. Better learn to reload!
Dang!
As these guys have said, you'll definitely want to reload for this gun. The .375SM is one of my favorite calibers to shoot! For me, it's got the perfect combination of bullet speed & BANG to bring a big grin to my face each range trip. I predict you will love yours, too.

Different caliber round, larger diameter bullet. 375 SM is much less common, and you will have to do some more diligent searching for ammunition and some of the reloading components.

I have a whole bunch of reloading stuff for the 375 Supermag that I gathered up, but never ended up buying the gun for =(
With funds being tight right now, I am considering letting some stuff go. I have dies, 375 IHMSA brass, and a crap-ton of new 375 Winchester brass. Some of the 375 Win brass I cut down and trimmed, but most is still new and un-cut.

If you do decide to sell some of your supplies, please post it here in the FOR SALE forum. Many including myself would be interested.
Will do. I just made a post in the reloading section with a preliminary list of items I have, asking for rough prices and values. Please check it out and see what you think.
Thanks!
