I've owned a .41DW for some years now... a stainless with a 6" V barrel. A few years ago, I discovered there was a ring in the barrel... not a bulge, the outside is still true, but a definite relief in the barrel about 4" down. Have no idea if I put it there, or it came to me that way... but in any event, in the interests of safety, I regulated it to mid-range cast bullet loads while I searched for a replacement.
OK, you .41DW pistol owners can stop giggling at me, now. No, I never found a replacement barrel or barrel set for it that was not priced into the stratosphere. Silly me.
I've also been trying to find a 4" barrel set for it... and as many of you know, there was a recent DW dump on GunBroker, to include 2 4" barrel sets, a blue, and a stainless. I went ahead and pulled the stops out on the blued barrel, thinking there would be more demand for the stainless one, but I wound up paying nearly as much for the blued barrel set as I did for the entire pistol... and, yes, the stainless barrel went for more money, in the end.
It may be a MixMaster FrankenGun, but it's moved from the back of the safe to the front...
As an aside, if anyone is looking to trade a stainless 4" .41 barrel set for a blued one... I'm your Huckleberry... 🙂

Yeah, I hate it when that happens. Been there myself more than once lately, prices these days are truly crazy! The one upside, is that you apparently got a nice deal on your pistol initially...gotta take the wins when you get 'em! Any more of that one?

I was going to say the stainless went for $605 the blue for $550 why not just have bid on the stainless one? I was bidding on the stainless one but I thought that was a really high price I only just paid $1100 for my 41 with a 6 inch stainless barrel. The real crazy thing is in the same dump a 4 inch stainless regular 44 magnum barrel sold for $781 what the hell was that? Never under estamate a bidding war. you could have got a complete 44 magnum for not much more than that.

Yes, that's correct. Here's the thing... My concern was the stainless one would go even higher than it did. Because it listed 2 days later than the blued one, I didn't want to miss out on the blue one, only to drain my bank account and sleep in the garage for a month trying to outbid the guy with deep pockets bidding both of them up.

I think you can get a new one from Dan Wesson for less than that. The roll marks won't match, but it will fit and function.
I will probably try to do that. I haven't called CZ in a while to see what they have.
It's a shame someone doesn't want to trade... this barrel and shroud appear NIB.

Cll Ginny at Dan Wesson in NY, they will be better able to help you. CZ is hit or miss.

As an epilogue to my barrel story...
I've had a 'Dan Wesson .41 barrel' alert on my eBay account for years. Once in a while it will throw something up there... usually having nothing to do with the .41 or a barrel as such.... but I got lucky last week!
Lightly used 6" 41V barrel... but blued. It was priced pretty fair, and it had a Buy it Now button... so I mashed it.
...so now I have a blued 6" .41 barrel to go with my stainless shroud! It's not exactly a PistolPac, but I've got a Dan Wesson .41 with 4" and 6" barrels... that I can shoot. Patience pays...

Obligatory range pics...
6" blue tube w/ 6" stainless shroud. I was testing some Xtreme plated 210grn FP bullets I picked up, over both Unique and IMR4227.
I've said it once, I'll say it again... these big frame Dan Wessons handle recoil like nothing else I've shot.
10yds, DA offhand shooting, twice around the merry-go-round (12 rounds...)
