I saw a Dan Wesson model 44 revolver and the serial number had a -1 on the end of it, I have not seen a serial number with this format on Dan Wesson's in the past, does anyone know what the -1 stands for? The entire serial number format was SBXXXXXX-1.  Thanks for any help with this!

It may be a duplicate SN.  Nikon did that kind of thing sometimes.  However, I never did understand the concept of re-using serial numbers.  Too bad the original records aren't available.  Maybe there would be some answers there.

BTW, Welcome.

That serial number as described (SB.... -1) does not seem to fit the pattern for any DW's we're aware of. Dan Wesson did sell custom serial number revolvers as special order items, I have one listing of about 50 guns like that and that type of s/n is not there.

If anyone ever encounters any 3 letter-1 numbers (like SDR-1), I actually have some pretty good info on those.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Sounds like a stainless .44, maybe it was made as part of a pair? Like a pair of dueling pistols, or a his-n-her set, or a matching pair made for the buyer's dual holster rig?

Just guessing here.Wink

CF, I think that sounds like a good guess at the meaning.
