I wondered the same with mine, thinking I'd probably need a Hogue grip to be able to hang onto this thing. Surprisingly, I prefer the slight slip that the factory grip affords between rounds. I usually only shoot my 7445 single action, to be able to compose myself between rounds.lol2

I think there is a good reason the large frame revolvers have smooth grips.  Checkering can be painful with big heavy recoil loads.

“We cannot but pity the boy who has never fired a gun; he is no more
humane, while his education has been sadly neglected.”

-Henry David Thoreau

“When some of my friends have asked me anxiously about their boys, whether
they should let them hunt, I have answered, yes – remembering that it was
one of the best parts of my education – *make* them hunters.”

-Henry David Thoreau
