Looks like a 357 Supermag. It is NOT a 357, its much too heavy and has the reinforced areas. A pic of the bore would help narrow it down a little. If you have a 357 caliber bullet you could see how it fits in the bore. If its a 375, a 357 would drop right through.

I agree; .357 SuperMag. One of the distinctive features of the .357 SuperMag barrels is that the middle portion of the barrel was milled to reduce weight as you can see, yours is done that way. That was done because they used the SuperMag barrel blanks which were much heavier than the standard blanks.
Now, I don't have a .375, so maybe they were done the same way, which would spoil my theory. I still think Mike and Phil are right.
Try threading it into a frame. The threads are different so that you can't make a mistake.

Thanks for all the input...I don't have a frame...(wish I did...:)...stopped by a small gun shop that I haven't been to in 20 yrs....the "old" man was still there...so I asked if he had any DW stuff...he said "I think I have a barrel left over from a gun I had and sold long ago"....it took him afew minutes of going thru a desk before he pulled it out...trying to decide if I want to hang on to it in the hopes of getting a SM one day...or sell it and pass it along....Damn DW fever....:)

You can get a 357 Supermag right now if you want. I have one for sale on Gunbroker. Its listed in the For Sale thread.
Are ya just cleaning out the herd? The Super mags camp with 2 barrels so, the shop must have pulled one. Keep it you will come across a need for soon I am sure!
Dan wesson barrels are choked. The get narrower towards the muzzle end. So we're Colt Pythons. This is one reason for their accuracy. This may explain the tight fit of the bullet at the muzzle end. BTW, if you would like to sell the barrel send me a PM. I cannot send one (or haven't figured out how) so include a point of contact. Thanks .
