I'm new to Dan Wesson but I bought an early 15-2.Beautiful revolver with the factory leather carrying case w/DW logo. The problem is some previous owner jacked the sight all the way to the left. This is the early sight with the white outline. The windage adjustment has me puzzled. It has an allan head on the right side of the sight and what appears (under a jewelers loupe)to be a double standard(one screw inside the other) screw on the left side. After useing the allan head to move the sight to the right it is now slightly loose.Didn't force anything and used properly sized bits.Help.

aboard.
The allen screw on the right side is the adjustment screw, the slotted nut on the left is what the allen screw screws into. From what I can tell, it is sort of an odd "rack & pinion" type of deal…both of them should be locked into to each other, yet they should both be allowed to spin free from their outer sight housing, allowing the body of the rear sight to travel left or right. Does that make sense?
If the two have come unscrewed from each other, I would say that if you put a drop of blue Loctite* on the threads, then screwed them together mildly-snug, that would be just right. Once dried, you should be free to move the right screw either direction without the back half of the sight becoming loose.
However, I have noticed with mine, that if the inner workings are clean & free to turn, that no Loctite is needed. I snug the two together (with a small amount of lube on the outer extremities) & everything works as it should**.
*(this thought is coming on the heels of my statement a couple days ago as being four-square against using Loctite on DW's. )
**(further cementing my belief that DW's were not built with Loctite in mind at all.)
Draw your own conclusion.
BTW, the "leather" case is actually vinyl, if it looks like this one…
