PIcked up this 15-2 with Nitex finish, which basically is electroless nickel It is very attractive (to me)
Purchased from original owner, he purchased in Houston new January 1978. He sent it off to Dallas for the Nitex finish.
Evidently Colt was offering Nitex as an option for a few years.
He said the spent cartridges would jam in the Nitex cylinder. He sent the gun to DW, they just sent it back with the blue cylinder.
I checked the dimensions of the Nitex cylinder with the blue cylinder..they are exactly the same. I plan to shoot the Nitex to see what happens
anyway, thought you guys would enjoy the story.

That is a problem with aftermarket plating. Factory nickel is not on the chamber or barrel bore. You may not be able to measure the chamber accurately enough. I have a 14-2 I bought at a gun show in the beginning of my hobby. I thought it was a prototype stainless gun. It came in the box with tool and literature. Alas, it was aftermarket hard chrome. The cylinder stop was not reinforced, the hammer tang not knurled, no S or S/D before the serial number. It is gorgeous, I still have it. Cleaning it is a breeze. It was done properly with no plating in the chambers or bore. However, it will not shoot to point of aim. Tolerances change with aftermarket plating unless done by a consummate professional. It shoots low. I learned to use a ridge at the base of the sight for aiming. It has sat for 10 years in the safe.
