Hmm… took it out to shoot at my wife's family farm, and ran into a problem. When loaded, the cylinder would bind every few shots. Otherwise it functioned fine, and was accurate enough for our purposes… plinking and taking down excess pine trees…
It works fine unloaded, so I'm going to give it a good cleaning and work the cylinder with some spent cartridges to see what the obstruction might be.
...yeah, things happen a lot slower the last couple years than I'd like. I really miss living out in the desert.

Check the cylinder gap across all six chambers, sometimes one can be tighter than another. Set the gap at .006" on the tightest chamber. Also, be sure to clean the cylinder face of any carbon residue that can build up, especially if your're shooting 38 specials due to the cartridge being shorter than the 357 mag. Give that a try and tell us what you find.

Yeah, free flickr account only allows so many pics, so the DW went at some point for more Zoe pictures.
I'll have to see if I can dig it up again.
After I made my last post, I clicked around with some spent cartridges in the pistol (checked, and made my wife double-check that they were empty 🙂 ). There were no problems all the way around, and I did think to look at the barrel/cylinder gap… it does seem a bit tight.
Part of the reason things have been so slow is that we moved to Alabama, and a good bit of our stuff, including my tools, is still packed and in the basement. I'm gonna have to dig for my feeler gauges, and I suppose I'll have to find me a DW barrel wrench too.
For a hot minute, I considered selling or trading the pistol off, but when I pick it up, it just feels too *right*.
Also, yeah, I've been shooting .38+p as it's what I've been stocking for my wife's GP100.
--edit: I figured it'd be quicker and easier to just take another. Just a cellphone pic, but it's at the top of the thread. Thanks, folks.

Also, another issue, albeit a minor one: I'm not getting a good line on the cylinder with a speedloader. Just a design thing?
I'm ok with using speed strips, if need be, but the speedloaders might work if/when I get a short barrel and smaller grip.
I've just ordered the barrel wrench and feeler gauge from EWK.

I rarely use speedloaders, but you are right that they can be a little troublesome. Although the grip has a slight speedloader relief built in, DW grips come up very high on the frame. Speed Strips might be an option?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. This pistol will be dual role: in its current form as a target pistol, and with a 2.5" barrel (and a different grip) as a CCW pistol.
So, the flat speed strips would be good for that.

Aight. Just got my EWK package today, and adjusted my barrel. Yeah, it was so tight it was actually dragging a little. I set it to a fairly heavy drag on the gauge, so it might be just a l'il tighter than factory, but it seems that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Now, I just have to wait until I get a chance to shoot it again.
We live in "the country", but still have neighbors in all directions.
I wonder, though... we have a full sized unfinished basement...

Finally got to shoot it. With some 148gr wadcutters, she popped 'em all off beautifully, without a hiccup. No shavings or any sign of other problems. If this is why the revolver sold so cheap... I made out pretty well.
I may fine tune the gap a little later, but right now I just want it absolutely reliable.
Now I'd like to find a short barrel and some ccw grips..
