715 from my earlier post. Came with the original 8”VH barrel shroud, later 4”VH barrel shroud, and the new CZ/DanWesson 2.5”VH barrel shroud. I did a quick search to try and determine when the fonts, styles, engravings, changed and didn’t get very far.
So now I’ve assembled a Franken-Pack of woods friendly quality.
Side note, the 4VH shroud sports an EWK fiber optic front sight. I think I put it on right, but I’ve not seen a ramped fiber optic front sight before.

The 8" BA is from Monson. Stainless 357s were made from early 1982 to 1991. The small frame production switched to the Palmer plant and the roll mark changed to a one line of the cartridge. You don't have one of them. In 1996 Bob Serva bought Dan Wesson and moved production to Norwich, NY. New production didn't start until probably 2001. The first unknown number of guns were called First Issue and we're marked as such and numbered to the frame by laser engraving and the 357 Magnum. Later production, probably 2002 had just the laser engraved 357 Magnum. I think the large engraving 357 Mag of the 21/2" was when CZ bought Dan Wesson in 2005. Dates were not cut and dried as new owners would use up old inventory. For instance there are guns with a Monson address on the frame but a one line 357 Magnum CTG on the shroud from the Palmer period. To confuse matters, EWK, an after market producer, used a roll mark that was larger than the Palmer mark but not laser engraved.

I agree with Ole Dog, the 4" looks like it is a Norwich pre 2005 piece, and the snubby is a current CZ style. Now you just need a Palmer 6" and you will have one from each period!

There is a difference between the 4" Laser roll marks and the 2.5". The 2.5" looks the same as my 715 CZ pistol pac (letters & numbers are outlined) & the 4" looks like a regular aftermarket CZ barrel you can buy today. I wish I could find a 2.5" like yours to match my pistol pac I have never seen one for sale! The outlined ones to me look much better!

With a little help from MPMAX I figured it out. CZ offers 2 types of barrels for the same size barrel. I needed to order the "New Shroud" to get the outlined roll mark. I never really understood what the difference was when ordering at CZ but now I know. also the barrel shroud is slightly different. I'm glad I can get the one that matches my other barrels so my CZ pistol pac now will have the 4 barrels that match!

I added the old “new” production barrel & shroud. Cz has improved their shipping, 4 days from order to delivery! Also added a new $25 Dan Wesson revolver case to hold my barrels. I’m glad barrels and shrouds are still in stock and reasonably priced!
