That's defective & dangerous, better send it to me for disposal!big-grin

Seriously, it's just another style of shroud without vents. I don't know if it is more rare in that length or not.

Then it is either a "Standard" or "Heavy" (H) barrel shroud, depending on the type of underlug it has.

Snake-eye I will place the barrel in quarantine and watch it closely, wouldn't want a fellow forum member infected needlessly. Thanks you guys.poke

seeing the photo in your other thread, its a standard barrel shroud, non vented. no under lug.

nice hogleg man, that should really be able to develop the potential of the cartridge fully

Thank you Man of blues. Do you know what velocity I should expect from this length barrel? TIA

at least 300 fps more than out of a 6" bbl, and about 200+/- over an 8" one.. But depending on bullet weight, and cylinder gap. I've had most of my barrels "faced" to true them cleanly at the barrel gaps, and it does allow you to close the gap down somewhat tighter than the .006" normally used.

here's a generic breakdown on velocity/ vs length

http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/357mag.html

I lost a lot of chrono data, along with my chronograph when my farmhouse/deer camp lodge/ range was burned down by some idiot serial killer... I do have a lot of load data and transcribed chrono stuff still, but would have to dig for it.

I'm sure working up some careful loads you should reach close to 1800 fps before having major issues.
